My stats and WPStats show a few subscribers (<30) for my blog at kevinsandlin.com; however, on the page in the widget, when I choose to “Display subscriber count”, it shows “Join 4,382 other subscribers”. I wish I had that many subscribers!

How can I get to the real number here?

Jetpack’s Subscriptions Widget does indeed include all your site subscribers: your email and WordPress.com followers, but also your Facebook and Twitter Followers since they too receive updates for each one of your posts thanks to Publicize.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

YES! That is very interesting. Had no idea. Thank you very much for that bit of info.

Follow up – now I understand that Jetpack counts twitter & FB followers, but does it not count Linkedin followers?

    Thanks,

does it not count Linkedin followers?

It does not, no, as we do not currently get that information from the LinkedIn API. We’ll add those to the counts as soon as it becomes possible.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for answering what was my question as well as to the jump in subscribers. You wouldn’t believe how hard it was to find out an answer to this!
