Had this domain setup on a Raspberry Pi but formatted the drive to rebuild it. Once the device was back online and setup JetPack gave me the following error message. My Server Variable REMOTE_ADDR is not correct. Any help would suffice.

Below is the error message that shows up on my dashboard.

  • Hi @andrerbell

This typically means that you are trying to connect Jetpack too soon after registering a new domain or making changes to your DNS.

In both cases, you must allow at least 24 to 72 hours between your changes and when you try to connect Jetpack. If you are still seeing this error after 72 hours, check your URL at whois.domaintools.com and make sure that only the updated Name Servers are listed.

If your old Name Servers are listed, log in to your DNS manager and remove them.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    My best regards,

    Michelle

@deathlynotes, thank you for taking the time out to respond.

After waiting a few days I tried to setup the jetpack plugin again and I’m still getting the same error message. I’ve tried to debug it via https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/ and only get unknown error. My DNS records stayed the same and is showing the proper name servers for basic hosting with namecheap. Is there any debugging or troubleshooting that I can perform? Also I think the problem may reside in the fact that the Server Variable REMOTE_ADDR field is showing the wrong IP address. Can I update that field somehow?

    Hi @andrerbell

Could you please disconnect and then reconnect Jetpack? You can follow these instructions to do that:

    1. Go to the **Jetpack** menu in your WP-Admin dashboard
    2. Scroll down to find the _Connections_ area.
    3. Click _Manage site connection_.
    4. Click **Disconnect** and follow the prompts to complete the disconnection process.
    5. Click the **Set Up Jetpack** button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.

This handy guide explains the full process in more detail:

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi @andrerbell

The site is currently unavailable, so Jetpack will be unable to make a connection. If you’re able to get your site back online, please let us know if you still have trouble connecting Jetpack.

    Thanks.
