Jetpack – WP login error

    Hi there,

    The error “An error was encountered while trying to authenticate” isn’t generated by the Jetpack plugin. I did a bit of research about this particular error and found lots of threads in the Wordfence plugin support forum. If you are using Wordfence, it’s possible those security features are conflicting with the security features of another plugin (Jetpack or otherwise).

    If you would like to try disabling Jetpack’s brute force attack protection feature to see if that’s what is conflicting with your Wordfence settings, you can disable this setting from WordPress.com:

    https://wordpress.com/settings/security

    If the issue persists even with brute force attack protection disabled, Wordfence is likely the culprit here and you would need to deactivate that plugin in order to get logged in again.
