I’ve done it, just remove the backround for the wrapper, and don’t add an header image and just get the backround image you want for your background.
I don’t think swf files as backgrounds are possible. Maybe somebody else knows that one. good luck!

About the swf backgrounding— somebody said it can be done by adding a php code along with an action hook in action.php, but I don’t know what exactly the code and hook can do the job.
Ok, well I don’t know the code either but I hope you can find it.
You add the background image to the body tag in your css file. You can also remove the border from the branding image (if you’re using twentyten with custom header).
