    Read this: http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Importing_Content#Joomla

Or just use the import function. Can you make an XML-export in Joomla?

in both of those pages there are comment saying that it wont work for 2.9.2.

also I don’t know how to use “import function” with joomla!!!

my joomla includes more than 5500 articles, can I use xml to import them in wp? so what about categories?

Start that article that I linked to from the top. WP can import a variety of formats, but the import function looks different from before…

Under tools->import in the WordPress admin you will find the following list:
Blogger Import posts, comments, and users from a Blogger blog.
Blogroll Import links in OPML format.
    Blogware Import posts from Blogware.
Bunny’s Technorati Tags Import Bunny’s Technorati Tags into WordPress tags.
Categories and Tags Converter Convert existing categories to tags or tags to categories, selectively.
DotClear Import categories, users, posts, comments, and links from a DotClear blog.
GreyMatter Import users, posts, and comments from a Greymatter blog.
Jerome’s Keywords Import Jerome’s Keywords into WordPress tags.
LiveJournal Import posts from LiveJournal using their API.
Movable Type and TypePad Import posts and comments from a Movable Type or TypePad blog.
RSS Import posts from an RSS feed.
Simple Tagging Import Simple Tagging tags into WordPress tags.
Textpattern Import categories, users, posts, comments, and links from a Textpattern blog.
Ultimate Tag Warrior Import Ultimate Tag Warrior tags into WordPress tags.
WordPress Import posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from a WordPress export file.

Maybe the RSS import is something to try? With as many posts as you have, you might need to do something with allowed memory, this is described in the article that I linked to.

On the other hand, I cannot imagine that there would not be a current Joomla-to-WordPress method, but I must admit that I do not immediately find one…

Btw. If all fails, you can consider installing an older WP first and then upgrade……..
