jQuery & admin-ajax.php 500 error with published articles

Specifically, the FBIA panel inside the post editor sits ans spins indefinitely — but only once an article has been published. During Draft they work fine.
Functionally the plugin works, it still submits updates via API to the FBIA system, but I can’t look at the markup of a published article through the plugin interface.
