Sounds like you must have had a pretty poor experience.
That’s not at all what we want to hear from our users, of course, and honestly I’m a little surprised — The Events Calendar is a powerful plugin and can go way beyond ‘the basics’.
I don’t see any forum posts from you (in relation to The Events Calendar specifically) so I’m not sure exactly what has gone wrong or which basics you were looking for, but if you wouldn’t mind providing a little more detail that would be awesome.
Reviews like this are potentially a great way for us to figure out where we can improve, but only if they contain enough detail for us to work with.

Thanks for your answers. I solved the problem by installing it directly in the window “installed plugins”. Now it works :-)!
