The wp-latex plugin is hardcoded to use http://s.wordpress.com/latex.php as the WordPress.com LaTeX server, even when accessing the site over HTTPS. The URL in line 51 of automattic-latex-wpcom.php should be changed from http://s.wordpress.com/latex.php to //s0.wp.com/latex.php to be protocol agnostic and properly support secure connections.

I recommend installing Jetpack and using its Beautiful Math feature instead of this plugin: http://jetpack.me/support/beautiful-math-with-latex/

That said, the HTTPS issue should be fixed as of WP LaTeX version 1.9.2 (just released – it should show up at http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-latex/ and in your WordPress’ dashboard shortly).
