Hi – I have sucessfully imported a 17MB XL sheet with 25,000 rows after tweaking memory settings on the server. But when I try to edit the Table Options or Table Features for visitor the site crashed out because its trying to load the entire table before I can save the options. ie Pagination

    Any suggestions

    Hi!

Thanks for your post and sorry for the trouble!

Here, I can only recommend editing the table offline, in Excel. Then, each time after making changes, re-import it into TablePress, choosing to replace the current version.

To change the settings, you should change them first, i.e. after first creating a small test table. Then, only import the actual file after configuring the settings as desired.

Note that your table will most likely be loading slow on the frontend as well. For that, the Server-side Processing feature module that is part of the TablePress Max license plan could be a solution.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Thanks for the reply. It partially worked when I imported a blank XL sheet first and set the preferences. I then imported 10k … next 10k … but on the last one it crashes out of “memory”. So I can import 20,000 rows but not the last 5,000. Have full access to the server so have increased PHP memory righ t up the the max…

If I cant figure it out I might have to split the table into 3 pieces….

    Hi,

ah, ok. The issue is not so much the number of rows, but the number of overall cells and the size of the content in them.

And just to be sure: Do you see memory issues on the server or does the browser crash with memory issues?

    Regards,
    Tobias

The browser crashes with memory issues and I dont see memory issues on the server.

Is there any way to get a trial version of the Max Plugin so I can see if it resolves before purchase? Cheers, J.

    Hi,

ah, I see. I’m afraid that the table just is too large then, and you will not be able to use its “Edit” screen. (This is the same in TablePress Max — it does however have features to make the table load fast on the frontend.)

However, you should still be able to import the large table, as that is independent from the “Edit” screen. While the browser will then crash after the import (unless you close the tab early enough), the data should all be imported fine.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hi Tobias – you are right the table did load eventually as a separate process even thought the browser had crashed. But still loads very slowly on front end so I had to split into 3 parts.

But I would be interested in purchasing the Tablepress Max if I was sure it worked for a table so large. Do you have a trial version?

    Hi,

    thanks for trying this!

While, as mentioned, the “Server-side Processing” feature module of TablePress Max won’t allow using the “Edit” screen for the table, it will greatly speed up the table on the frontend. So, that’s definitely worth a try.

At this time, I don’t offer trials, but instead have a very flexible 30-day refund policy: Within that time period, without any questions asked, you will get your money back, if you are not happy!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

Ok Tobias – thats all fair enough. Will consider a purchase of Max as in early stages of the project.
