I had the same problem when updating from 2.1.7.2 to 2.1.8.
I got a blank screen when trying to reach the welcome page and could not have any view on the WP dashboard (the black one) when connecting has wp admin.
I have the 4.8.2 WP version.
Effectively my webserver is on PHP 5.3.3 version.
Will you please confirm me that it is the cause of this problem.

yes, since 2.1.8, PHP 5.4 is the minimum required to use SEOPress.
PHP 5.3 was released in June 2009. It’s super old now, several security vulnerabilities etc…
We strongly recommend to upgrade to PHP 7.1 in addition to the fact that it brings a considerable performance gain.

On a hosting web site with the 5.6 PHP version, I have no problem.

Since SEOPress 2.2 we added compatibility with php 5.3 but we strongly encourage you to migrate to php 7.1.
