Hello Support … very happy with the forms but on the last update 1.4.9 it added a tick box regarding an anti-spam honeypot and removed the Google reCaptcha v2.

Is this anti-spam honeypot something new?

I only understood this when I started to get some spam and re-ticked the reCaptcha and all ok now. Should I also tick enable anti-spam honeypot?

    Thanks

  • Hello @alexanderweb,

With the latest update, both Google reCAPTHA v2 and v3 are supported they are not removed and to protect from spambot intelligent honeypot feature is introduced (remember honeypot is just a hidden field to detect spambot and prevent form submission).

Regarding honeypot, you won’t see it in the embedded form at all unless you dig into the code. This is because a honeypot field isn’t meant to be visible to regular users — instead, only bots should see it. Then when a bot fills out this field, that’s how we know they’re not human and are spambots.

Thus to protect from spambots, I suggest enabling honeypot 🙂

    Many thanks Shiva

I have taken your advice and enabled both the antispam honeypot and the Google reCAPTHA v2.

Appreciate the extra help and understanding on the honeypot and in future I should read the release notes and information BEFORE installing any updates so I know what new features I am getting.

Excellent support and excellent forms !!!
