Sounds like PHP had an issue compiling its opcode. You should contact your hosting provider and give them the complete error, and might as well make sure you’re using the latest PHP version (there are regular updates).

Hi jsm,
Thanks for your quick response. I’ve got the latest software of everything including 7.3 PHP. (Updated everything only a week ago). Running a VPS with Linode. Although have done everything myself I don’t have a clue about this stuff! Google is my partner (what I really mean is all the kind people who type questions and give answers on the net). I’m guessing when you say Opcode that it is Opcache which I do have installed. What should I be looking for? Just a general nudge in the right direction will help and me an Google will try and sort it.
Thanks again.
Jeremy

If it happens again, you should copy-paste the complete error message. Considering what you’ve reported, it sounds like PHP had an issue creating its opcode (ie. compiling the PHP script to executable binary code) and/or refreshing the opcode cache.
