Hello… this is addressed to the developers of WordPress..latest version 3.8 wasn’t sure where to post this other than miscellaneous.. please advise..

I scoured this site to see where I can post this complaint/issue…
Its not really a complaint but more of an observation that probably needs fixin… not sure…

lately these little vertical squares are appearing as icons all over the net and now with this latest version WP update 3.8 there are no icons to be seen.. I’m sure its just a slight tweak that needs attention..

Has anybody else noticed this..? The dashboard panel in the admin page control sidebar is now a black background and the icons are just little vertical rectangles, what looks like symbols/letter/numbers
too tiny to make out but looks like F1 and right under that 03 04 etc…

what is this? and should this be this way? doesn’t look right.. but as non techie individual I would not know the difference>

SO I ask who ever initiates Word Press updates most likelt the developer team, to take a look at this..
These tiny iconic rectangles makes navigation rather difficult>

Hopefully this will get fixed sooner rather than later!
    Regards
    Ralph

Sounds like there’s a problem on just your site. See http://ww.wp.xz.cn/news/2013/12/parker/ for screenshots of what you should be seeing.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thanks for the tips…

    Heres a screenshot..
Now most of my settings look like this.. unreal…
funny I never had this problem before..same plugins and I always delete any deactivated plugins..

I haven’t tried everything you suggested but I will ..the other strange anomaly is that the page functions well in IE, however I use Firefox as my main browser.. this is a real kick but problem for me because I’m not that smart when it comes to FTP and PHP.. have no idea what to look for..or how to change things.. the last time I did that I had to redo the entire site… took me 4 weeks to complete..

this bums me out… I’m starting to learn HTML and I honestly think I’m gonna switch all my sites to HTML…
WordPress is very unstable.. every time there’s an update something new and weird starts to happen…

I’m bummed.. cant believe this crap! the last time there’s was an update my entire page /site looked like it was being viewed through a fish bowl…the entire site was in expanded view…there again I had to delete the theme and install a new theme.. that took me 3 weeks!..

Is there anybody out there that can do this for me?

    Link to your site?

Wow a response! that was fast

    here’s my site http://greenhousesandsunrooms.com

..the site in Firefox browser view looks OK its my admin pages that all screwed with those little icon squares..
    and here’s that screenshot

Looks like you have caching on your site:

<!-- Dynamic page generated in 8.238 seconds. -->
    <!-- Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2013-12-15 18:01:34 -->

    <!-- super cache -->

    Try clearing that cache.

Ok .. let me do that… give me a moment..thank you

    (@thecoffeedude)

When you say clearing that cache… not sure what you mean….anyways..
I just deleted the delete cache clicked both buttons.. and nothing…

I have no idea what to look for.. honestly I dont understand WP Supper cache.. I have it there because everybody says its the thing to do..but I have no freaking idea what caching does..

Sorry I’m screwed..thanks to WordPress updates..

Try deactivating that plugin. Then deactivate ALL plugins and switch to a default theme.

I see I’m not the only one with WP 3.8 iconic issues..I read the threads and everyone there had a different solution..

I must honestly say this is a bunch of crap.. why dont you WP techie guys leave well enough alone.. I swear every time there’s a freaking update a new mystery unfolds… whats next? for Petes sake

why dont you WP techie guys leave well enough alone

People helping out here, including moderators, are volunteers and most of us don’t make decisions about updates at all.

    Thread Starter thecoffeedude

    (@thecoffeedude)

You gotta be kidding me! no way… takes me too freaking long to redo everything I’ll just work around it!// thanks for your help..anyways… I have a better suggestion!
Since the WP development team caused this issue to begin with….
Instead why dont the WP development theme come out with a new update to resolve this issue… why is the burden on us to fix!…
Like I said every time you guys come out with an update a new mystery always seems to unfold…
WordPress is filled with too many cooks cooking the soup ..
Appears like the Left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing!
I”m just a greenhouse builder for crying out loud! Give me a break!

Did you even try the suggestion in that thread re: Firefox:

In Firefox, go to Tools, Options, Content. In Fonts & Colors, go to Advanced. Check “allow pages to choose their own fonts….” That took care of it for me.

    Thread Starter thecoffeedude

    (@thecoffeedude)

I do realize many of you are volunteers and I do appreciate the help very much.. however the development team that puts these updates out, I my opinion, should exercise a little more quality control! ..that’s all
I have no idea how to contact the WP development team I figure you guys do!

    Thanks anyways

    I’ll try what you suggested!

They see feedback on these forums.

BTW, just for the record, I’m not a guy :). Not that I object to the generic/gender neutral use of that term – but just sayin, since people tend to assume otherwise here :)!
