HI,
It would be nice if you were able to update the plugin to show it works with the latest WP versions..Thanks,

I couldn’t agree more. Fresh install and no plugins installed but when I activate “Genesis Simple Sidebars” I get this error:
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘ss_term_edit_init’ not found or invalid function name in /home/dwisolution/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 496
When features I need to use Genesis start breaking, I start looking for another framework.
So, I deleted the plugin and retrieved it again from ww.wp.xz.cn and it’s working fine. What error are you getting?
Hi, I just had a need for this plugin again and still doesn’t say it is compatible with the latest wordpress. 🙁
I’m using the WP 4.1.1 and can’t get this plugin to work. I activate it. Add content to it and set it to display on a page. The sidebar is not existent. Any thoughts?
Link to your site?
Link to site?
I have notified StudioPress about this, hopefully they will be able to reach Nathan so he can update the plugin.
It still works. The notice is not a code check.
Thanks Andrea,
I installed Genesis Simple Sidebars, and when I “activated” it, I got a white page with a message that I needed WP 3.6 and higher and a version of Genesis that I already have installed. That’s why I placed a note here to let you guys know.
It’s NOT working with WP 4.2.1 and Genesis 2.0. Not for me anyways. So I could not use it. Although I REALLY would love to!
Regards,
Andre
@styzer – you need to have a Genesis child theme active.
If you are running multisite you cannot network activate plugins that depend on theme functionality because the main site theme context is not loaded in network admin.
Hi Ron – OK, let’s go slowly:
I build websites as a freelancer for years, using WP and Genesis.
I have Genesis 2.0. NOT running multi-site.
I use a child-theme.
Genesis Simple Sidebars DOES INSTALL.
Genesis Simple Sidebars DOES NOT ACTIVATE.
It gives a white page with an error message warning I need to use WP 3.6.
Did ANYONE check the number of people complaining about this issue BEFORE ASSUMING we – the users who BOUGHT GENESIS AND MANY CHILD-THEMES OVER THE YEARS – are the ones who DON’T GET IT???
GENESIS SIMPLE SIDEBARS IS OUTDATED OF FAULTY. Maybe it’s still working with default child-themes, I don’t know. It sure ain’t working with the PREMIUM child-themes I’m using.
Thank you for YOUR ATTENTION. Please, this is getting ridiculous and rather insulting. I hope someone will attend to this STUDIOPRESS problem. I have clients waiting.
Regards,
Andre

Andre? Calmly please. No one is trying to wind you up and there’s really nothing here that is insulting.
Can you provide a link to your site? Seeing your site that has the problem may help others sort out your issue or at least eliminate some of the guesswork.
Genesis Simple Sidebars DOES INSTALL.
Genesis Simple Sidebars DOES NOT ACTIVATE.
Do you get any error messages when it doesn’t install/activate? If you are what are the messages?
Hi Jan, it’s just frustrating, it’s as if we have to explain the same thing many times, in detail. No offence.
If you followed the conversation, I already explained twice what happened:
Thanks Andrea,

So, I don’t know how else to explain, since it does not install, I can’t give you a URL.
Please explain to me: why not ask Nathan to update it?

Andre

Update it how? There’s not really enough information provided by you to tell what the problem is and where.
I got a white page with a message that I needed WP 3.6 and higher and a version of Genesis that I already have installed.
White pages are usually a 500 server error, meaning PHP had a problem and aborted. That problem will get logged in your server’s error_log file and it would be valuable to know what that error message is.
I get that you can’t provide a URL but you can work with us to isolate the cause of your problem? This may get tedious for you but it also may provide a clue what is the problem you are having.
Try these basic steps.
- Confirm that you’re running WordPress 4.2.2.
- Disable all of your plugins, no exceptions.
- Switch to another Genesis Child theme different than the one you are currently using. I don’t have Genesis but if it comes with a stock child theme then please try that.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
- Log into your WordPress dashboard.
- Activate the “Genesis Simple Sidebars”.
If that still white screens then you’ll need to enable logging or obtain access to the server’s error_log file. Please let us all know how those steps work out.
The reason I am walking you through these basic steps is because one of the above forum members mentions this.
So, I deleted the plugin and retrieved it again from ww.wp.xz.cn and it’s working fine. What error are you getting?
Since that post 4 months ago no one else has provide what the error they’re getting is. Again, that could be really useful to sorting out your problem.
Hi Jan,
Let me get back to you tomorrow, OK? It’s quite late here, and I’ll have to do a number of operations to get you this info. But right now, using Executive Pro and Generate Pro, no sidebars are showing. I will send you info about that error I get with the other themes.
Thanks for looking into this, and I apologize for being stressed and upset, and showing it…
Regards,
Andre
