Hello, it seems that several people have raised this issue also, so it seems to be an issue with the Events Calendar and OceanWP theme.

Basically, all of the single event views are shown with the default blog layout e.g. a main content area and a sidebar area. This is the case regardless of what option is selected in Events > Settings > Display and for the template (they all show it as two column).

I’ve read before that suggestions claim this is because OceanWP overrides the default template layout. However, if this is the case, this still needs to be figured out within your plugin, as OceanWP is a very popular free theme for creating websites (and is one I use mainly).

This site I’m working on is on a local development site, so I cannot share this, but hopefully you have enough information here to be able to offer a solution (or tell me this is being resolved in a later update).

I would like to avoid using a child theme as much as possible, and would not like to just ‘hide’ the sidebar using CSS.

    Thank you.

    Hi @leecollings

    Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, as long as the template override is present on your active theme oceanwp/tribe-events/default-template.php, then our plugin could not do anything.

If you don’t want to use the default override of OceanWP theme, then you could remove the default-template.php from your theme, or you use a child-theme and modify the default-template.php from there.

I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have further concerns.

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
