I have created a page with a file to share and included the short code [shared_files ask_for_contact_info=1 file_id=xxxx], but the form does not prompt for any lead data. We want people to give us contact information before downloading this file. What are we doing incorrectly?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

It should work correctly with a shortcode formed like that, but just to be sure, could you please double-check that the shortcode has the parameter ask_for_contact_info=1 and if it still doesn’t work, could you please take a screenshot of the editor where you have the shortcode added, and add it to your reply here for further analysis?

Thank you for the response. I believed the same thing… this should be working correctly. I’m going to attempt to attach two screen captures. One is the settings in WP Admin and the other is the editor to show the shortcode syntax I’ve applied. If attaching directly here does not work, I will provide a link to them instead.

Edit: Attaching an image in-line did not work. I will provide a link.

Edit: Link to screen captures: 2025-02-06 Share File Settings.pdf

    Thanks!

Thanks! It looks like you are doing everything correctly, but for some reason the parameter doesn’t trigger the form. I have tested the current version on various different websites, but the form shows up like it should.

Could you please try to create a completely new page on your site and add there a code module in Divi, and write the shortcode with keyboard without copy-pasting, just to make sure that there isn’t any special characters that might interfere with the shortcode?

Thank you for that suggestion! That worked perfectly! I hadn’t thought of starting with a code module versus just entering the short code syntax into the body of the page. We are now showing the prompts for the lead contact data. 🙂 I’m going to go ahead and mark this as resolved. I just need to remember this for the next one! 😀

No problem, I’m happy that you got it working and please let me know if you later have any ideas how to make that feature better.

I’ll improve the plugin based on feedback and if you would like to have a certain new feature, just start a new topic in this forum. 👍
