    Hello!

    My document library is no longer working. All PDFs are still in the shared-files folder and the links are generated correctly. However, I get an error message and the PDFs are no longer displayed. I experienced these problems only through user feedback and I don’t have much traffic on my site, so I can’t say exactly when and why the problem arose. The documentation is not very comprehensive and I don’t know how to start troubleshooting. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks a lot!

    Hi, that might have something to do with a caching plugin, can you say if you are using one? Excluding urls beginning with /shared-files/ from caching might solve the issue.

    You could also set the file opening method to “Redirect” from the plugin settings, Technical tab. That would make the files open directly without processing through PHP.

    As different users feedbacked this problem and I assessed it in different browsers and with different files, I don’t think that the problem is linked with caching.

    Nevertheless, you hint with the redirecting option worked and now everything works properly again – thank you!

    Ok, great!

    The caching issue could have been in the WP setup you have, not locally with individual users / browsers. Meaning that if the site uses a caching plugin that is not configured in a certain way, may affect this plugin’s behaviour so that the files are not served correctly (in case someone else reading this also has a similar issue).
