Lightbox doesn't work

Hello,

First of all, I am dutch so my English isn’t perfect and this will be a long post because i want to explain in as good as possible.

We are building a webshop with wordpress 3.9.1 with the theme Total. We are building it in woocommerce. Now we bumped in to a problem we don’t know how to fix.

The webshop’s shop/catalog page ( I am not sure how it’s called, i am referring to the page were all the products are showed, not the single product page ) but the webshop’s shop/catalog page is build like this: we have 16 products per page. Every product has an image with a double border and below the image is a single borderd text box with the name of the product and a read more button.

The image, the name of the product and the read more button are all hyperlinked to the single product page. But we want to have it a bit different, we want the name of the product and the read me button hyperlinked to the single product page, but we don’t want te image to be hyperlinked. We want the image to have a lightbox function.

First we did the following: we went to woocommerce, then to settings and we enabled the “activate woocommerce lightbox” (i have a dutch version of wordpress so i am not sure it’s called like this, i translated it literally), but nothing happend on the shop/catalog page. On the single product page we could click on the image and it pops up on the screen in a frame. But we don’t want that.

We tried the following, we looked for a CSS or PHP code online, we found a couple, but there is a problem with our functions.php page, when we type in a code in the functions.php and we want to save the changes we’ve just put in, but the page will keep continuing the loading proces and it won’t stop loading, but that’s a problem for another forum. But this means we cannot work with a code because of this problem.

So we went to the plugin site of wordpress to look for a lightbox plugin. We found five that we consider using. Those are the following plugins:

– Responsive Lightbox
– Simple lightbox
– Colorbox
– Fancybox
– Simplebox

If we can choose we want the Simplebox. So we downloaded and activated the plugin in wordpress. We made sure that the settings were correct and we saved it. With some of the 5 plugins we used nothing changed and with a couple of plugins there changed something on the single product page, we could click on the image that’s displayed on the single product page and a lightbox would appear. But that isn’t what we want. We want the lightbox on the shop/catalog page to appear. Now we have tried everything we could think of, we looked at the settings over and over again but nothing changed on the shop page.

Can somebody help or explain to us how we can make this work on the shop/catalog page? Thanks for reading our (long) post and we hope that somebody has an answer.
