• Hello,
Please read to the end to understand exactly what it is about.
In the Media library, there are 4 boxes for each image: Title, Caption, Description and Alt text.
I have a lightbox plugin called ARI Fancy Lightbox. It is the only lightbox plugin I found which does all that I want it to do.
In the Lightbox window which opens when a picture is clicked, the title of the picture is taken from the “Title” box in the Media library for the image.
I opened a support ticket with the plugin developers and asked them to have an option to show the “Caption” instead of “Title”, as other plugins do.
The developers, after a long conversation, said that they cannot do that, because the PAGE BUILDER doesn’t assign HTML to the “Caption”.
Here is their exact final answer:

When 4 fields are defined in WordPress media gallery, they are stored in DB. Then when a gallery plugin/page builder/etc shows these images, they generate HTML code for them and add some/all fields. In your case this should be added by Elementor, but we don’t see it in HTML code of the page. “ARI Fancy Lightbox” is attached on client side based on HTML code which is generated by gallery/page builder plugin.

Please fix this and enable the use of Caption, so that the core parameters of the images may be used.
    Thank you,
    Vera

  • The developers appreciate ideas for improvement, so if you like, you can submit a Feature Request on Github, which is where they take feature requests. You can submit them at https://github.com/elementor/elementor/issues/new/choose which gives you the opportunity to follow the discussion about ideas you submit, and track development progress of any that get implemented. You can learn more about how to submit requests at https://github.com/elementor/elementor/blob/master/.github/CONTRIBUTING.md

    You again!
And not understanding the request, again. Characteristically.
You told me before that you are NOT from the Elementor team. PLEASE, save your time and effort and don’t bother answering MY tickets. I really implore you. You promised already you won’t, don’t break that promise.

For someone from Elementor, please, take no notice of what cavalierlife just said. She has a tendency of being unable to understand written English language AND presuming to know what is and what is not a problem for everyone else.

This is NOT an “idea for improvement”.
This is about some core features of WordPress, which are not coming through in Elementor – and that is affecting work with other plugins, depending on these features being present.
    Thank you,
    Vera

Sorry but I will answer as needed. I am a part of the team. Perhaps I wasn’t whenever I answered that in the past. I am now. I may not always understand the request, but I do my best to do so.

In this case, I understand what you want perfectly. Perhaps you don’t like the phrasing I used but the result is the same. If you want the developers to add something to the code – call it what you will – you will need to speak to them where they are – which is not here. They take requests on github. Those requests are ideas for improvement – improving the product so that it works better for you.

Here, we offer support for existing features of the free product.

Let me see if I get this straight.
Missing code for an existing feature, due to coding which is incomplete, is not considered, in your opinion, “support for existing features” – but “ideas for improvement”. Did I get this right?

I’m really sorry that you aren’t understanding what I am saying. I apologize for not being more clear.

If development / code needs to be done, then the developers at github must get involved there.

By “support for existing features” I am referring to helping to use the product as it currently exists right now, with the existing code. As the code that you need does not exist yet, I cannot support that non-existing feature.

I hope that clears it up.

    I see. It does.
    Thank you.
