Could you try to clear your cookies in your desktop browser, and then log back in to WordPress.com?
https://wordpress.com/
If that doesn’t help, could you reach out to us via this contact form, and give us a few examples of the posts you’ve tried to Like, with no success? It would also be useful if you could give us details about your WordPress.com account.
Thanks!
Clearing cookies and logging in didn’t help. When I try to like something, even when logged in, a popup comes up and quickly closes. No like appears. Here’s a couple posts where likes failed: http://dgkayewriter.com/booklaunch-introducing-p-s-forgive-book/ and https://thestoryreadingapeblog.com/2015/03/21/blog-advice-1-increasing-your-traffic/
What kind of details do you need about my account? Username is jackbuddha.
Thanks for the extra details.
Could you try to Like those posts while logged in to your WordPress.com account in a different browser, and let me know how it goes?
OK, techno insanity (inanity?) strikes again. I tried it in Canary (the upcoming new and improved (?) version of Chrome and it worked. Then I went back to the regular Chrome and tried it again and this time I also could do likes worked again! I’m not crazy, but sometimes I think my computer or some software is!
So, just to be clear about this, must I be signed in to WordPress.com for likes to work? Even if I do say remain signed in, apparently I am not staying signed in or something’s weird because the way the sign in popup quickly disappears.
Yay! I’m not sure what happens, but I’m glad it works 🙂
Could it be related to one of the Chrome extensions currently active on your site? If this happens again, it might be worth trying to reproduce the issue in an incognito window, where your browser extensions aren’t loaded.

That’s correct. We need to know your account details to be able to add your Gravatar next to the Like button.
