  • Hi!

Thanks for reaching out. We’ve looked into this and the current behavior is by design:

Proofing sessions: Full resolution downloads are available in two cases:
    1. When photos have been marked as final.
    2. When the downloading user is a WordPress Administrator or Editor with gallery editing permissions – they always get full resolution.

Before that, downloads are limited to a smaller preview size (1080px on the shorter side, which gives ~1620px on the longer side for landscape photos).

Standalone galleries: Downloads are currently restricted to the preview size as well, regardless of settings.

That said, we agree this could be improved – especially for galleries where you’d want to offer full resolution downloads directly. Could you share more about your workflow and use case? For example, are you using galleries, proofing sessions, or both? We’d love to discuss possible changes to better fit your needs.

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

My use case is simple – I’m a photographer and I want to share final photos from a photo session with my clients, allowing them to download images in full resolution, both as a ZIP of the entire gallery and as individual photos.

I’ve already switched from galleries to proofing sessions and marked all photos as final, but the download is still limited to the preview size (~1620px on the longer side). Full resolution downloads are still not working for my clients.

    Hi Pitrazzz,

We definitely plan to make it easier for photographers, but for now, could you check if marking sessions in the “Delivery” stage as completed fixes the issue with downloading high-resolution images? https://imgur.com/a/Lu2ICwB

Also, if there is anything else in the plugin that could be improved or changed, we are very open to feedback from photographers – feel free to let us know 🙂

    Hi Anna,

Marking the session as completed in the “Delivery” stage fixed the resolution issue – thank you!

However, I’m now getting a 503 error when trying to download the entire gallery as a ZIP file with original resolution photos. Single photo downloads work fine.

    Hi there!

Do you still get the 503 error if you only select 2 or 3 photos for download? If so, the error is likely due to a timeout while the zip file is being generated. We have already implemented a tentative solution for that which will be released soon!

    Jonathan
