Hi there, i have created a website which was not allowing me to change the login screen dimensions. while trying to edit the problem via the dashboard>appearance>editor method, i deleted some code accidently and now when i try to go to my URL it gives this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘(‘ in /home/content/n3pnexwpnas02_data02/38/2983638/html/wp-config.php on line 82

What is this to do with and how would i go about rectifying it? thanks

Ok i will try this method. Thank you very much for taking the time out assist me. i appreciate that. My hosting company is currently trying to restore the database to its previous backup, before the errors occurred. They said it may take a few days, so if that fails i will re-upload all the files and go from there

You’re welcome. Glad to help. Having your host restore from before the editing will restore the file you deleted the code from, as well.

A question… do you have a plugin installed which backs up your entire site (files and database) off-site? It would be a good idea, because if your site gets hacked or there are problems with your host, you have a clean backup stored elsewhere. I have one which backs up every day.

No i don’t actually, My hosting site has a record of my site backups every day. It would be helpful to have an external backup software for instances like this. Which is the one you use?

I don’t endorse any particular plugin. You can choose from here: https://en-ca.ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/search.php?q=backup
Read the reviews by people who have used the plugins.

I have downloaded one of the plugins from the list and and have connected to the site database for daily backups to be accessed at any time. My hosting company restored my site database last night which was a great relief. check it out when you get a chance: http://utopiaplayground.com/

Great that you have your site restored. Sort of a Christmas present.
When you backup, make sure you are backing up the database and all the site’s files, as well. This would then be a complete restore.
You can mark this thread “resolved”, then.
