• We are ending up with duplicate posts that have to be manually deleted because child posts remain when a parent post is deleted and re-authored (don’t know why staff are doing this, but that’s how it goes sometimes). I expected child posts would be deleted with when the parents are, but can advise the staff to change their workflow if that’s not how it’s intended to work.

How are the parent posts deleted? Normally BC should pick up on a parent post being deleted and then delete all of the children.

Thanks for the quick reply! As long as it’s supposed to work as I expected, I’ll experiment with the editor’s account and provide more information next week.

Some more details: Broadcast will pick up on deleted / trashed / restored posts when the action is done on the post overview page.

I’m not sure whether I want to move that detection out to outside of that page. Do I, and why do I want to, in that case?

The next version of BC will have the delete, trash and untrash hooks globally monitored, instead of only monitored in the post overview screen. This should solve any orphaning problems you have.
