links don't open

I have been banging my head against this for a while and can’t work out why external links aren’t clicking – links to other pages internally work fine, as do href=”mailto links.

The links work if they are right clicked and “open in new tab” or such, and in IE they open in a new tab if middle clicked.

Replicated across chrome and IE, linux and windows, through clearing of caches.

It uses the Daily Dish Pro theme from studiopress.com and the following plugins, though I have changed theme and disabled the plugins one at a time (with the caching disabled) and still get the same non-link behaviour.

I’ve found a few other posts like this around the forum, and have tried most of what I’ve found suggested such as eliminating the plugins and theme and am reaching wits’ end.

Hoping somebody out there has experienced something similar and has some advice?
