When I create a signup form and allow more than one list, the plugin adds a nice checkbox for each list. But I can submit the form without any options checked, and my email address doesn’t get added to any list. This is a great way to silently lose signup. Why isn’t it required automatically?

You should still get notified about a submission, assuming you haven’t also turned off the email notifications for them.

That said, from what I recall with the original development of the plugin, it was intended to be able to act as a small general contact form until an account was connected, and we haven’t removed that aspect yet. I do know we didn’t have ability to disable admin emails initially.

It may be worth reviewing on our end to warn about no list being selected when a Constant Contact account IS connected AND the “disable admin email notification” is toggled on.

Having a newsletter signup that has a mode where it sends an email to an admin being like, “someone asked to sign up for the newsletter but they didn’t pick a list so we didn’t sign them up” is not a solution. It’s a disaster back-up plan. Why not just make the list selection required, since it’s a Constant Contact signup form and Constant Contact requires a List selected? This wouldn’t effect your general form behavior, because that wouldn’t have the list selection field to begin with.

We’re definitely agreeing that we need to touch things up and I have opened some enhancement issues internally around the topic and scenarios. We appreciate the feedback and concerns, by far.

In those enhancement issues, I have outlined various scenarios that should help cover all cases and setups at any given time. This will help us harden things up and help facilitate catching as much as possible.

To help re-assure, one of the scenarios includes disabling publishing of a form if an account is connected and admin email notification settings are toggled as disabled.
