Load script asynchronously or defer?

You can try to dequeue and then re-enqueue that script later, if you want, but AFAIK there is no WordPress core function that permits async loading of enqueued scripts. If I’m wrong about that please do point me to a working example. 🙂 A quick search turned up this guide about how to target an enqueued script for deferment.
