I was wondering if anyone knew if you can make your portfolio pages subscription only? When I make an item the require membership option doesn’t appear.

By default PMPro only filters stuff output through the_content() function. You need to use some variation of this code:

http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/2011/11/lock-down-everything-but-homepage-for-non-users/

Or update your theme to use the pmpro_hasMembershipLevel() function:
