• I am trying to back up my database and files so I can update to the latest version (3.5.1) of WordPress. I am using Filezilla and when I attempt to login, it will not accept my password.

    I get the following error:

Response: 331 User (my username) okay, need password.
    Command: PASS ********
    Response: 530 Login incorrect.
    Error: Critical Error
Error: Could not connect to server

I am using my username that I use to sign into WordPress and
the password I use to sign in with as well.

By the way, I have a different password for ww.wp.xz.cn to login
to the forums. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

I am an administrator for the site and I am typing

    for

    Host: www.(site-name)

Username: (my username I use when Logging into WordPress and working on the site)

Password: (my password I use when logging into WordPress to work on site)

FTP access info is not typically the same as your WP login – you need to get the FTP info from your hosting company.

Actually, I should have started up by simply asking,

What is the proper Host, Username and Password to use?

We can’t tell you that – it actually has nothing to do with WordPress per se – FTP is just a way of accessing any files on a server – you’ll need to ask your hosting company (who is it BTW?).

I’m trying to figure that out. I didn’t realize it was done that way.
