  • That sounds like a network or local machine issue – possibly relating to a failure to set cookies when logging in.

    Could be.

Before I got to this stage, it would hang for anyone outside of the network. I removed a bunch of outdated plugins and now some people are able to log in, but not others.

Cookies are working on these off-site machines, though. Just seemingly, not for this wordpress install. Is there a PHP session config param that I should be looking at? (Though I can’t imagine that there would be one that would set cookies for one ISP and not another.)

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
