    What version of WordPress are you on? Is your theme up to date?

    You may need to use FTP or some other access such as Cpanel to rename your theme folder so that WordPress will use the default theme provided for that version of WordPress. Hopefully that theme hasn’t been deleted. If it has you’ll have to reload it.

    With the default theme you should be able to log back in and then do what ever updates are necessary.

    Dear Matt, thanks for the reply, blog is on v 4.1, I’ve already tried to disable my theme but no luck…also if I rename my theme folder (and I think WP should use the default one) the site stops working or at least the main page is blank, no errors or messages though.

    Any other idea?

    Sounds like it might be a plugin then. Rename the plugin folders through FTP and then try it. What WP theme do you have for the default?

    Did you install any new plugins or updates just before this started happening?

    Dear Matt, thanks again. Believe me, I’ve tried all the solutions I’ve found on the web so far and the plugin’s one was one of the first I’ve tried.
    Yes I’ve installed and uninstalled (because not working) a plugin a day or two before the loop began. The uninstall was successful and straightforward so it didn’t seem the cause of the trouble and after this the login loop problem was not present immediately but only a day or two later. Any other thought?

    Try reloading the WordPress files from a fresh download 4.1. Maybe a file got corrupted on the server?

    When you disable all the plug ins and change to the default theme, do you still get the same deprecated error messages in the debug file?

    Do you have a recent backup of the functions.php that you could go back to?

    Dear Matt thanks for the effort, I’ve already tried this one as well, but I didn’t try the debug after disabling theme and plugins. I’ll try and I let you know.
    Unfortunately no function.php back up…
