Logo image size

I have changed the theme custom logo size in functions.php and with custom css. The logo is displaying at the new size of 500px but is blurred. When I inspect the logo element it shows the original size of 240px. Do I need to change the size in another file? Is it possible that the functions.php changes aren’t active? The actual file size is 1000px. Any ideas how to fix this?
