Looking for a Plugin that Emails Post Updates

Hi,

Sorry, I’m not sure where else to put this. I have been trying every plugin even coming close for the past month and none of them cut it. The one that seems like it would (“Subscribe to Category”) isn’t working and the developer seems to have dropped off the planet.

I would like users to be able to optionally subscribe to get an email when a post is published or updated. I would like them to be able to choose the categories for which they get emails, and would like them to be manually enter an email address if they choose (no one can see posts without registering, so I’m not worried about people misusing this but would like them to enter their phone/txt address or home email if they want).

This isn’t for email collection or marketing purposes (it’s for a company Intranet). I thought it was very simple and commonly needed but I guess not.

Does anything like this exist? Anyone out there want to make it?
