Hello

I am trying to move posts from a separate staging area to http://www.philsimon.com but am losing excerpt data in the process.

I recorded a video of what I’m doing:

WPEngine tells me that this is native WP functionality and that I might be able to get creative with PHPadmin but PostID might be affected. I obviously want to avoid messing with any part of the index.

Any ideas?

the_excerpt is a function. Using this function (should) would not edit the posts table in MySQL. Can you clarify why you believe it does? Also, I think they may have tried to point you to a well known host tool, phpMyAdmin (not PHPadmin), but check with host. That said, using phpMyAdmin for gathering the post excerpt seems improper.

This is what WPEngine told me:

Another way around this would be to export your wp_post and wp_postmeta tables from your database through PHPMyAdmin, then import the tables into the destination installation.
