If your file is called as you typed above – it will never work.
The correct filename is: wp-config.php
I typed it wrong on this forum. Sorry. It’s wp-config.php in my docs.
Your posts and all your content is stored in the database – if you didn’t touch it, everything should be there, even if you cannot access it temporarily.
The error mesage you see:
http://www.jankenny.com/journal/index.php
means you didn’t put the right info into the config file.
Hmm. Someone set this up for me initially so I’m on my own now. I’m fairly lost at this point on what should be on the wp-config.php. Suggestions?
See this:

You should replace those variables (wordpress, username etc.) with your own. Ask your host if not sure what the proper values are.
Yes, I did that, but obviously I’m missing something integral because I still can’t access my blog. Thanks for trying to help.
Except the pw you should be able to see the other 3 variables in your site admin panel – not the WP admin, but the interface offered by your host to manage your whole site.
What kind of admin interface do you have? cPanel? Plesk? Other?
I have no idea. My website host is Powweb.
Never installed on that host… but when I tried a search here for powweb, I got this:
http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/33476?replies=3#post-189589
Hopefully, something has changed since than and now it’s better!
Powweb says my database is fine, yet I can’t access the blog I’ve been using. I suspect part of the problem is I changed the password at my host (I changed it with wordpress as well) because when I login in with my username and password on any wordpress login page except the support one, it says user unknown. Very odd. Very frustrating. I need a blog, and this is becoming too difficult.
Now, your username and password here in the support forum – has absolutely NOTHING to do with your
a) site admin username and password
b) your WP blog username and password
The above things are 3 (three) different user/pw combo! Or, at least, they should be.
And you can add as a fourth: the database user with its password. I am afraid if you don’t understand these are separate and non-related login credentials, you’ll mix and mess them.
Being in a Christmas mood π – if you want, click on my name here and contact me privately, I’ll try to sort out the mess… [the only reason I am asking for a private contact: it’s dangerous to discuss password issues in a public forum].
I had a family emergency that took me away, Moshu. Sorry for the very late response.
If you are willing to help sort this out for me, I’d deeply appreciate it. Being without my blog for so long is totally unsatisfactory to me.
Let me know, please.
