Lost password email

Hello Voltronik,

I just realized there is some problem I had not seen before : the ‘lost password’ mail that wordpress generates when some user click on the “lost my password” button is truncated.
Only the first sentence subsists, but none of the rest, and especially not the link sent that is supposed to lead to the reset password page.

This has to do with your plugin, since the problem disappears when I desactivate it.

I am using a chid theme of twenty thirteen.

Tell me if you need any other informations to try and fix this problem.

Hi Oazar,
Thanks for your message.

Can you confirm that you are using the latest version of both WordPress and the plugin?
Can you also tell me if this happens when you press the ‘Send Test’ button in the top right of the screen when editing a notification?

Yes I am using the latest version of both wp and the plugin.

When U use the Test button, this the mail I get :

This is a test email. All shortcodes below will show in place but not be replaced with content.

So it looks like it’s working in the Test email – is that right?

Is that a formatting issue with the email that BNFW is introducing or just a copy/paste issue when copying to a forum post?

Yes, it seems to me the test email works.

Not sure I completly understand the second question.

This problem has got to do with the lost password email wp sends.

Without your plugin, I receive this :

Quelqu’un a demandé le renouvellement de son mot de passe pour le compte suivant :

Identifiant : espritM

S’il s’agit d’une erreur, ignorez ce message et la demande ne sera pas prise en compte.

Pour renouveler votre mot de passe, cliquez sur le lien suivant :

And all links are active.

If your plugin is activated, I receive this :

The mail stops there, and the link to the website is not active (it became active when I copy-pasted from the mail to this forum)

Hmm. I’ve just tested and it’s working ok for me but I think the issue you’re seeing is related to a problem with how BNFW sends out emails which has been fixed in the latest version. This will be out in a few days time.

I’ll leave this thread open until it’s been released.

Most of it is tested. I’m doing my absolute best to get it out before then.

I have v1.3 and is not working 🙁

When you select the Notification for “Transactional – Lost password – For user” the field “Email formatting” hides, and when the email is send, does not takes as html, all is taken as plain text.

Actually this happends with all “Transactional” items

Yes, that’s correct. In order to prevent BNFW from interfering with other plugins, I’ve had to set the default format to plain text then give users the option to change this for most formats except for transactional emails.

I’m looking to improve this but have to do so in a way that doesn’t effect emails sent out from other plugins.

Just giving you an update on this: I’ve come up with a way of making this better. It’s not ideal but it’ll be included in the next release.

I’ll leave this ticket open until then.

Thanks for the update Voltronik, as far as I am concerned, it runs just smoothly as it is.

My wish would be to be able to select a specific post (page), and send notifications to whomever I want when it is updated. If you have some time and ideas, this new feautire would be MUCH welcome, a real plus for your good plugin.

This will be coming as part of a paid add-on plugin for conditional notifications in a few months time.
