Lost Teaser when using Simple Custom Post Order
-
IssueM documentation recommends the use of Simple Custom Post Order, SCPO, as one option for reordering Articles and Issues. It looked like a good idea, so I installed it and reordered my Articles. It reordered Articles OK. However, all the ArticleM Options that had been manually set in the moved Articles were deleted after the move – RESULT: Much of the Magazine’s layout provided by IssueM set up seemed to have been lost, there was no sign of the moved Articles in the Featured Rotator or in the Thumbnails. I tracked the problem down to the fact that the IssueM’s Article Options for the moved Articles had been corrupted by SCPO. That meant that the Article’s Author name, Teaser Text and check box options had been deleted by SCPO. The site uses WordPress 4.8.3 and Simple Custom Post Order has not been tested on it. Is this the underlying problem? Or is there a deeper issue? Other aspects of the Article’s information remained in place just fine.
Also: If trying Simple Custom Post Order, be aware that it is necessary to go to Settings>SCPOrder and check the boxes there for the types of Posts and Taxonomies that you wish to sort. Until then, even though it is activated, SCPO functionality is totally absent. SCPO’s documentation is scanty and does not mention this requirement.
