Lost whole WP_content folder! How???!!!

I use the plugin WP_thread comment http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/wordpress-thread-comment/

I was testing it out and replied to a few of my own comments. Then when I tried to delete the comment that I was replying too (the upper most comment) i got a blank page. I went to my admin and it said I had no themes! I had lost my Wp_content folder! Vanished! I had to start all over again from a two week old backup. It is okay now, but I am afraid to delete a comment that has replies on it.

Why did this happen? is it possible that deleting this comment was the cause? What do i do? thanks for any replies
