Hiya Darren,
a direct link to MailChimp is not operational at this stage yet (we’re working on that one). For the moment, you can use the export function on the contacts to expert a .csv file and import that into MailChimp. Sorry for the inconvenience about that, this proves to us that the MailChimp should go up a bit higher on our priority list!
Concerning the Facebook sharing using the selection sharer, this uses the Facebook share functionality. Facebook share functionality requires a Facebook App ID, be sure to include fb:app_id meta tag information in your template otherwise the Facebook share button will not show. If you’re using Yoast SEO for example, there is the option under social to add this data. It might probably be better in the future as well to add it straight from our plugin..
Thanks a lot for the feedback!
It is not “actual” for me so far, but I can see it would be desirable. Any manual export/import things are less desirable. Mail chimp does seem to have a lot of visibility and I am sure other similar services exist (so I guess/hope it an API type call or something).
As I move to make the Mailchimp integration to the site more fixed and then try and maximise the benefits it allegedly will bring, it would be a natural expectation that “Mailchimp”-friendly plugins would get a priority consideration than those where you have to do a lot manually. Just because 🙂
Noted re the Facebook stuff. We are communicating offline about the access to configuration settings problem as I guess that is stopping me seeing the configuration in question.
@darren, totally understandable with the MailChimp integration. They indeed have an API and we are actively looking into the integration right now, so hold tight 😉
Sorry, I don’t really follow you on the Facebook stuff. You don’t have access to the Yoast SEO plugin settings?
Cheers!
Thanks re MailChimp. For me, personally, it is a non urgent thing but we are likely to go along that route so it would be natural to select compatible elements.
Regarding Facebook, we can take that by mail, but for the benefit of the public watching the problems were related to accessing ANY settings within your plugin, rather than accessing the settings of other plugins.
Darren
Hey Darren,
it took a bit longer than expected, for which were very sorry (we did a really big overhaul on the code next to adding the MailChimp direct sync in the application). But the release is finally there!
Now that that one is out of the way, let’s have a look at adding the possibility for a direct FB app add option.
Cheers!
Hans
Thanks for the update. I need to revisit the plugin in the not-too-distant future.
