MailChimp Google Analytics Tracking Link Rewritten
-
I prepared a MailChimp campaign that linked to a Yoast-enabled website. The links in the campaign use embedded Google Analytics tracking. However, one particular link is being redirected in a way that is preventing Google Analytics from tracking it properly. Details follow below.
My original link reads: http://MYCOMPANY.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=CODEA&id=CODEB&e=CODEC
From here, it’s then redirected to the link below. THIS IS NORMAL; it’s got the utm_source, the utm_campaign, the utm_medium, and more information.
Here’s the problem: the link redirects immediately and unintentionally a third time:
http://WEBSITE.com/?Information_and_Resources&utm_term=CODE&mc_cid=CODE&mc_eid=CODE
This is what the link ultimately lands on, which does not have the Google Analytics tracking that is necessary to track this as a conversion. The actual link in MailChimp is correct and the Google Analytics are being passed over in that link, but once we are on the actual site, it is being redirected and condensed. This looks to be happening on the actual server.
Could this be because of the Yoast SEO plugin? Is there a good fix? Thanks!
