Main Site not loading…

    I love the Tracks theme so much I’ve decided to use it for 2 websites on my server…different domains.

    My main Theme site found at Thankyourob.com/podcast doesnt load at all anymore, just loops back somehow/some way back to Thankyourob.com. The odd thing is, I can access the backend just fine: http://www.thankyourob.com/podcast/wp-admin

    I can also link directly to posts, its just when viewing the main site – I believe the index.php it loops back somehow. I changed nothing (as far as I know) that would dictate that.

    I’ve talked with my hosting company – Hostmonster, here is what we’ve done:
    – restored files from when this was working
    – restored SQL databases from when this was working
    – disabled all plugins
    – changed themes (no luck)

    I’m at a loss here…I really don’t want to lose all of my files/data, this is for a weekly podcast. Any ideas?

    Hmm okay the index.php file wouldn’t result in the 301 redirect the /podcast page has, so we can rule that out.

    This is just a guess, but try visiting your Permalinks page and re-saving your settings. This will regenerate your htaccess file possibly fixing the issue. It is possible that a plugin added a redirect there, and then didn’t clean up after itself once deactivated.

    Just tried the Permalinks route…even renamed the original .htaccess, thus creating a new version. No luck.

    Let me throw this out there…I can’t say for sure when this stopped working, but yesterday I setup the Tracks theme on my main domain: IDefineDesign.com – with a fresh WP install…again this is my main domain, not the ThankYouRob.com domain, would that have any effect on this at all?

    I may have fixed it:
    – I noticed the .htaccess file at the root of Thankyourob seemed to point to a loop to any directory under Thankyourob, so I thought I’d take a stab at just renaming the file, which seemed to allow ThankYouRob.com/Podcast to load.

    I was able to verify this on 2 computers, within IE, Chrome and Firefox and also on my smartphone.

    Can anyone load the site make sure for me please?

    No, that wouldn’t have any affect on this. Since you switched themes previously, we can confirm that this issue is not being caused by Tracks.

    After clearing my browser cache and visiting that url, it loaded properly for me 🙂

    I would replace your current .htaccess file with a default one, clear your cache, and visit the page one more time to confirm the issue was indeed caused by a redirect in your previous .htaccess file.
