I’m unable to make the “maintain filtering” option to work properly.
It just seems to keep SOME field types “saved” (in my case, subcategory); and only when clicking on the browser BACK button, not using the standard “back to catalog” link (a simple link to the page).
No way to maintain custom fields filtering, at least not when using sliders (most of my custom fileds are measures, filtered by slider).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi nero,

Is sub-categories the only one working, or are categories, all custom fields other than sliders, etc. working? Whether it’s specific to only sliders changes what the potential issues might be.

I made several tests showing all field types. See link above.
The “maintain filter” doesn’t seem to work at all.
Something happens when I switch the option on/off, but it’s pretty useless and bugged. The only difference I see is when (with option enabled) clicking on the BACK button of the browser (tested on FF & Chrome): it retains radios, checks, text search and category dropdown (no subcategories here, I wasn’t precise in my first post). The sliders remain always unchanged. BUT the list isn’t filtered! The fields look selected, but no real filter occurs (all product of the catalog are showed).
If the option isn’t enabled, even this type of “partial memory” (useless, anyway) doesn’t occur.
NOTE: I use three catalogues on the site. The link above is for one of them, the other two are easily reachable via the CATALOGO menu button. The catalogues contain just a bunch of test products.

…any clue? Should I just forget about this option and tell my client to live with that?

    Hi nero,

Just to mention, the maintain filtering is only guaranteed to work when using the “Back to Catalogue” button, not when using the back button in your browser. Either way, it isn’t working correctly on your site at the moment.

What do you have set for “Breadcrumbs” in the “Basic” area of the “Options” tab? If you set it to “None” does it make a difference?

It could be possible that the sliders might not save the filtering, as those are saved differently, but, if there’s no JavaScript conflict, the filtering of categories/tags/etc. that use checkboxes or radio buttons should definitely work.

Try the breadcrumbs. If you already have it set to “None”, or if you set it to “None” and it doesn’t make a difference, then can you please try deactivating your other plugins (and, if necessary, trying a default WordPress theme), so we can try and rule out a conflict somewhere?

The breadcrumbs setting doesn’t change anything (it was already set to “none”, but I tried switching it just in case).
I’ll think about deactivating some plugins, but my main goal was to make slider filters work, and I’m understanding they won’t anyway.
I think I’ll be forcing (someway) the product pages to be open in a new tab as a workaround.

    Hi nero,

    Thanks for the update.

For the ‘new tab’ workaround you mentioned, you can get the product detail page to open in a new window by going to “Options” -> “Basic”, then scroll down to “Product Links” and select “Open in New Window”.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I did (after realizing looking at the source code that an option was already there). This one works 🙂
