In 99% of cases, it’s the cache. Do you have any caching plugins? Or something in cPanel you can purge?
You’right, WP-Rocket made it’s job…. even deactivated :-/

Well, it gets worse 🙂 We have code in the plugin that’s suppose to empty Rocket’s cache once you activate maintenance mode. But apparently … I’ll double-check if there’s anything we can do.

I’m facing same problem at https://dealsbunny.co.uk. Even though I don’t have WP-Rocket.I had Endurance Page Cache which I disabled but still, it does not work.

I personally deleted the wp-content/cache folder to make it works
It’s a matter of emptying the cache 🙁
If not in a plugin then in cPanel. Not much we can do from our plugin 🙁 Sorry.

Yes, it was about cache, I didn’t have any cache folder or plugin. But hosting provider cleared the cache and it’s working now.
