Hello that is how the Maintenance Mode works. While you are working on the backend you prevent users from viewing the website on the front end.

    Kind regards

So what does it this mean “Check this if you want all visitors except those who are logged in as administrator to be locked out of the front-end of your site.”

My understanding is that if I am the administrator I should still be able to view the front-end of my site. All other users will see the maintenance page. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    Thank you

Hello robx1971, I just did a test on my server and it works well for me when I click on visit sight found on the top left hand side of the admin panel while in the same browser page or tab.

    Browser used Firefox 26.0

What browser are you using? Have you got other security plugins installed? Do you have any cache plugin set up? What theme are you using?

    Kind regards

I am using Firefox 26.0 and Chrome 31.0, no other security plugins are installed. Using the genesis sample theme. No caching plugins installed.

    Thanks

Hello robx1971, can you try one of WordPress default themes to see if that works.

If it does work then we can say that there is a conflict between the plugin and your theme.

    Kind regards

I tried the default 2014 and 2013 themes and neither worked. I just try another plugin that does the job. thanks anyway
