MAJOR PROBLEM….PLEASE HELP>>>>

    I’m really worried right now. Here’s what happened about 10minutes ago.
    I have been running a multi-site 3.1 for my main domain http://www.121MediaSolutions.com and it’s been working fine along with several sub sites.

    For some reason, I don’t know why, but I was doing some research and looking at the things on SimpleScripts and playing around with using their one click installation. So I thought I would try it. I choose phpBB to install on the main directory of this wp installation. I don’t why I did this. Then I used the link provided by SimpleScripts to view the new installation of phpBB but I got blank screen. Which worried me considerably, since I know about those from WP! So I went back to SimpleScripts and uninstalled the phpBB app. Then I went back to view my site and it’s still not there!

    PROBLEM: I can access my admin panel for the multi-site just fine, but the main site seems to be down. And now for some reason it doesn’t even show up when I type in the main url, I get the same screen I would as though I just registered the domain name. Not good.

    I double checked the domain mapping, ip address and checked to see if everything was okay on my Plesk cp. The settings seem fine.

    I went back to the site and clicked on the themes and the theme was gone! But it’s still there at the site admin, so I re-added that theme to this domain.

    I don’t know what the problem is now, but I can’t get the domain to resolve to the ip address of my server. A few of the sub site show up while others don’t. http://www.121hosting.com is fine, but http://www.mrkabobca.com is not working along with http://www.121mediasolutions.com (main site).

    Could someone offer me some advice and thoughts on this issue? Has anyone had this happen to them before??

    UPDATE: NO SUB SITES ARE WORKING…once I cleared my cache all was gone. This is good and bad at the same time. GOOD: because this just might be a settings issue somewhere, BAD: because I have no idea what to do!!!

    My thought is that installing the phpBB on the main drive wrote over some important file for WP. My assumption only, perhaps someone could shed some light on this.

    PLEASE HELP!!

    Try deleting the index.html in the root (not index.php). WP seems to do SOMETHING, which is asuring.

    i just noticed that I can’t find my index.php file on the main server – perhaps this is where the problem lies?

    Can I add the basic index.php file from the wp original installation files?

    There may be more WP files you need to restore. Did your little joke wipe the root perhaps? In any case, that “This domain has just been registered for one of our customers!” page is an idex.html you don’t want.

    i don’t think I wiped the root – I’m still breathing!!!

    I think now it seem like it might be the index.php main file which probably was the SAME name as the phpBB file name – so when I uninstalled it it wiped out that file need for the WP stuff.

    At least this is what I’m hoping it is….I’ll give it a try now….

    Just download a new WP and FTP the files from the root to your server. If that doesn’t help, also replace the rest of the files.

    Btw, the subpage works fine here.

    it work but now for some reason I lost images and the theme settings – i guess it could have been worse – I could have lost everything – thanks for your help.

    Now I have hours, and hours of changes to make on the theme! $$%#$#

    home page is missing 3-4 intro slides, blog is all messed up and all of the side bar widgets for each page are missing.

    That’s odd. Somehow your blog must have lost the themes, which is why the widgets etc got whacked.
