Make featured image an external URL

    Is it possible to make the featured images an external URL without first going to that individual post page.

    Example: I have a grid of blog posts on my blog page (images only – no text) and I want viewers to be able to click on each blog post image and go directly to an external link.

    Is this possible, if not, why? I noticed that the title of the post is also automatically links to that specific blog post. Is it possible to make the blog title also an external link directly from my blog page.

    Is there another/better work around for this? I am setting up products on my website and have to use a filtering plugin that only works on the blog so I cannot do this outside of the blog environment. Otherwise I know I could put all the images on a page and make those links, but alas that is not an option.

    You may have to customize the code in order to accomplish this.

    Sounds like you are using a custom theme or plugin for your site by which you are displaying posts in a grid.
