How well a WordPress-based website performs depends primarily on the plugins you use as well as the theme. WordPress performs very well without plugins and with a default theme. So you should check your project to see what’s causing the slow loading times.
Here’s an article on the topic: https://developer.ww.wp.xz.cn/advanced-administration/performance/optimization/
My recommendation is to first see what optimization options are available or offered by your current setup. Some themes also have their own caching features. Removing older plugins that no longer perform as well as they should today can also help.
After that, you can look into using one of the free plugins to optimize your website’s output: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/search/optimize/ – it’s hard to say which one is best in general. It always depends on the project’s structure.

It’s too late. Removing Jetpack has totally broken my site, pages now return zero HTML – you’re going to delete these posts to cover it up.
Removing Jetpack killed my site. Flat out. You’re not offering me support. You’re covering up what I’m saying – it’s why you’re moderating me instead of helping me.

I hadn’t realized that your issue was with deactivating Jetpack. If you’re having trouble with this plugin, I’d recommend reaching out to their support forum: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/jetpack/ – there are more people there who are familiar with the plugin and can better assist you.

Read my post, not asking about that. Please, take the time before replying and controlling the conversation.

Hi @jlamar
It’s too late. Removing Jetpack has totally broken my site, pages now return zero HTML – you’re going to delete these posts to cover it up.
Removing a plugin like JetPack should not cause issues, unless it is directly related to page builder such as Elementor.
As for WordPress; WordPress itself doesn’t require a ton of plugins to optimise the website, however, it will depends on how it is handled from beginning, for example, the full site editor themes work pretty well, if you don’t want a caching plugin that might track your wp-admin usage ( though plugins should have opt-in to disable tracking ) then you can rely on your hosting cache, as for lazyload, WordPress comes with a native one https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/core/2020/07/14/lazy-loading-images-in-5-5/, plugins are necessary whenever you need further control on the setting.
I am not sure how your site at this moment, if you have any error on front end, feel free to share the URL and we can take a look at browser console ( never share credentials ). But if the pages are working and the problem is the performance itself, start with:
1. Check for any report on WordPress > Tools > Site health;
2. Ask your hosting support if they have static server cache, if not, consider one with that;
3. Are you using custom theme, premium builder plugin or? Describe a bit the env so we can share more accurate recommendations
4. Perform plugin cleanup, check if only Jetpack isn’t necessary, reducing the number of plugins can also enhance the performance.
Best Regards

Not sure what to say, I disabled it and my admin/login page is blank. In any browser, it comes back with no data.
At this point, my best bet is going to be to export my database. I cannot re-enable the plugin. Now that I’m not logged in, I’m cooked. Been using this 22 years.
Edit: Just verified on mobile, it’s the same. Visiting any link directly, doesn’t work. /wp-admin is gone. All I did was disable Jetpack because it was blocking me from uploading images. That review is deleted and my site is cooked.

Hey I got it, only had to now disable all plugins.
As I started – this software is fundamentally broken. All the enhancements went into Jetpack. It’s now spyware and if you remove it, your site is broken. It shouldn’t happen but that’s how the economy works now.
