Malware scanner never completes

My site has been hacked by Malware and I am trialing your software to get rid of it. I am able to achieve a green tick for each status except for Malware Scanner. Each time I perform a scan, it begins but never completes. It always has the message “System hasn’t been scanned yet. Please, perform the scan to secure the website.”. Please advise what I am doing wrong. I have deactivated and reactivated the plugin but no difference. Thanks.
