Manage List Issue

I am starting to see more and more where I cut and paste the external link to an article in the “LINK” box of the article setup of “Text” (2 options to select – Visual/Text), and then click “CHANGE” in the “Link” / “Post” area at the bottom of the text box. I delete the site internal URL and then paste in the external URL to the document. This used to ignore taking a reader from my homepage to the post page where the user would then have to click the external link (“via actual external URL”). This action would change a 2 step click process into one click (homepage rather going to my site post page). Now, most of the time after I publish the page, the links return to my internal post page which creates the 2 step click process which I don’t want. I have tried clicking the “Save” button at the bottom of the list and clicking the “Publish” button at the top but get the same results. What do you think? I haven’t changed anything in my files since the other day backup restoration which got me back on track. The URL issue occasionally occurred in the past as well.
