Manual excerpt does not display

    I am using the Divi theme for post pages which has a page builder. When I add text to the manual excerpt field, and select the excerpt to display a certain number of characters, nothing displays. I was able to add a custom field and the content of that field displayed–and I am fine with this solution. I just thought I would mention that there is no option for a manual excerpt (that I was able to find.)

    Thanks to you for reporting it.

    Yes, if you activate the Visual Builder in the post edit screen, the Divi theme moves the post text in a separate field. In this situation Posts in Sidebar cannot generate an excerpt if it doesn’t find the post text in the place where it should be.

    This is for the WordPress generated excerpts from posts text.

    On the contrary, if you define an excerpt in the post edit screen, the user-generated excerpt is correctly retrieved and displayed, even if you use the Visual Builder.
