Manual Installation with Filezilla – wp-admin.php install?

    Hi, so Im trying to instal wordpress onto my Innohosting server space and Its my first go and I have hit a few issues.

    I’ve managed to download wordpress, edit the wp-config.php file, with what I think are the correct details for login.

    I then download FileZilla, installed and connected to the server, however atm im using Temporary FTP Hostname (numbered address) rather than my website domain name which apperently needs to Propagate first.

    I followed the wordpress instructions and uploaded the files inside the wordpress folder to the server in a new created directory /blog folder.

    Now I have to run wp-admin.php via a webbrouser, which doesnt seem to work for me!

    **.**.***.***/blog/admin.php – Gives me a 404 Not found error.

    When I just search in the brouser for the temp address on its own, I get to “Great Success ! Apache is working on your cPanel® and WHM™ Server”

    But I want the wordpress login page, any ideas on what could be the problem or how I fix this?

    Hi Richard, Thanks for the link its what I’ve been refering to but Im still stuck.

    I understand I should use http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php, this still doesnt work for me ( I think because my domain name still needs time to propagate?) and Im currently using a temporary FTP HostName which is a random IP address.

    Any one had any experience with installing wordpress on a temporary FTP hostname?

    Ok so I managed to move forward with the issue, I copied the correct install.php file path by right clicking on the file on server in FileZilla ( my FTP). It looks like this:

    ftp://**.**.***.***/blog/wp-admin/install.php

    Its taken me to the correct wordpress login page, however:

    ” Error: PHP is not running

    WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.”

    I was also told that I am a super admin and I should buy a cape? Weird.

    I’d suggest just waiting for the domain name to promulgate (which is probably has by now).

    Depending on your exact hosting setup, the IP address may not be helpful in that the web server still translate which domains point to which folders on the computer.

    The PHP error is because (I think, been awhile) you’re accessing it via a FTP server, which doesn’t tie into PHP at all.

    Hi Brandon, I think you might be on to something here, but it does not seem to have gone through as I cant log on to it via FileZilla.

    Is it possible that are FTP Hostname has been stopped propagating because its already in use with another hosting service as a current website?

    If so, would I therefore have to transfer it over to the hosting provider I want to use for WordPress first?
